In an important development for the world of rugby, the World Council Regional Committee of World Rugby convened on Sunday to deliberate upon the reinstatement of the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation (FRMR) and accepted its return as an Associated Member. The decision was subsequently validated by the World Council of World Rugby on Tuesday, marking an important moment in the global rugby community.

The President of Rugby Africa delivered an exceptional presentation during the World Council Regional Committee meeting, outlining the unparalleled pace at which the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation was welcomed back into the rugby fold.

In his address to the World Council Regional Committee, Herbert Mensah passionately made the case for the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation's reinstatement. He articulated compelling reasons why Morocco should be readmitted, emphasising the positive impact it would have on the African rugby landscape.

The decision to reinstate Morocco as an associated member was met with unanimous approval, reflecting the widespread support and consensus within the global rugby community. This extraordinary decision speaks to the faith placed in the potential of Moroccan rugby and its contributions to the sport on the African continent and beyond.

Morocco's journey towards full membership in World Rugby is well underway. The World Council of World Rugby has set the stage for the country to become a full member during the upcoming World Council meeting in April or May 2024, a testament to the commitment and progress made by the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation.

"The speedy readmission of the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation is a testament to the dedication and commitment of all parties involved. Never before in the history of rugby has a national rugby federation been readmitted with such expediency by both Rugby Africa and World Rugby. The process, characterised by its swiftness and efficiency, underscores the unique circumstances surrounding Morocco's reintegration" said Mr. Herbert Mensah, President of Rugby Africa, the governing body of rugby in Africa.

This historic moment serves as a shining example of unity and progress within the world of rugby. The Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation's reinstatement opens new horizons for the development of the sport in Morocco and across Africa.
